    The Park

Located next to the Storey Park Community Centre in Hornsby is the fully fenced Storey Park Playground, which has something for everyone.

The playground is made up of three distinct play areas – the net climbing tower with skywalk, junior play area and nature play area. Together, the make-up of these play spaces caters to a broad age range, from toddlers through to older children.

The main focal point of the playground is the net climbing structure and skywalk in playground softfall mulch. It challenges older kids and capable younger children to climb their way to the top of the pyramid net. Once at the top, they must traverse and crawl through a series of skynets to ultimately reach the ultimate reward at the end – the super slide!

This is a great piece that develops a child’s general motor skills and sense of risk. An added benefit to the skynets is that they act as an elevated ‘hangout’ zone for older kids, which is often highly sought after in playgrounds.

The junior play area is located at the back of the playground, overlooking Storey Park oval. It’s covered entirely in rubber wetpour, making it accessible to children with mobility impairments.

A good mix of traditional play equipment fills the junior zone and includes a combination unit with various climbing pieces, slides and shopfront on the ground level, accessible spinner, triple bay swing set with basket swing, inground trampolines, single spinner, junior swing, see-saw and play panels. Overall, there is no shortage of variety in this playground and the suite of equipment will teach all kinds of new skills to young children.

The furniture throughout the park has been well considered. There are plenty of seats with armrests, picnic settings, BBQs and shade structures spread throughout the park. There are also shade sails spanning over different parts of equipment in the park for comfort.

It’s also worth noting that the playground is entirely fenced – something that is always welcome by parents and carers!

There is a nature play area to the side of the playground. it’s finished in much and includes concrete boulders, pipes and tunnels to explore.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, there is also an outdoor table tennis table in the playground for bigger kids to get competitive with!

    Highlights

Of course it’s the net climbing tower and super slide that are the highlight of this park! There is enough challenge to keep kids climbing to reach the slide over and over again! But the playground offers something for all ages with the junior play area, nature play and table tennis table. It’s the perfect complement to Storey Park Community Centre and a great addition to the North Shore.

For another epic net climbing tower, why not plan a day trip to one of our favourite playgrounds in Sutherland Shire, Bonna Point Reserve – Adventure Playground?!
