The Park

The pocket playground is unique and is located as part of the park in Raleigh Park Estate. Due to being in a private estate, the lawns and garden beds are meticulously maintained.

The play space is nestled in the naturally sloping site, with groundcover garden beds and small trees planted along the slope. The trees provide the additional benefit of screening the bordering road. With the tree branches being uplifted, passive surveillance of the space is still achievable.

Like any playground, a level of supervision is required. This is especially relevant at Raleigh Park Playground due to there being no physical barrier, or fence, between the play space and the adjacent road.

As well as the trees directly above the playground, there is a large shade tree elevated to the side of the play space. Depending on the age of the children, this offers a nice spot to supervise from the bench seat underneath the tree.

The play space is covered in synthetic turf and is best suited for younger children (0-5 years) due to the equipment selected. There’s an older-style single swing, see-saw, small slide and small combination unit in the playground. A shade sail does a good job of sheltering the play space.

There are limited play options for older children in the park, but there is a generous kickabout area neighbouring the play space. If you are looking for a playground better equipped for older children, Wulaba Park, Waterloo is an adventure playground nearby that is worth checking out!

Highlights

The highlight of the playground is the peacefulness provided in the grounds of Raleigh Park Estate. There is not enough play value to keep children occupied for a lengthy amount of time, but it’s a great place to unwind in the area. Parents and carers can relax in the natural shade of mature trees and admire the manicured gardens that the park offers.
