    The Park

The playground has a quiet bushland feel with the thick groves of native tree plantings (mostly Casuarinas, Eucalypts, Melaleucas and Acacias) that border and run through the reserve. The tree plantings offer shade, and also provide a buffer between the playground and the adjacent roads (the playground is not fenced).

The main play space is finished with sand, which provides a different texture for children to familiarise with. It’s made up of a combination unit, rockers and social spinner.  The combination unit is made up of a slide, climbing wall, barrel roll and climbing net.

Away from the main play space, the playground has a swing set, netball hoop (old and in grass – but still usable), and a dual disk swing (nostalgic and lots of fun!).

The park feels a bit disjointed with the play equipment separated from each other. But overall, it caters to a range of different age groups.

Next to the main play space, there’s a massive grass open space perfect for running, racing or kicking a ball.

There are bench seats and picnic settings throughout the reserve, with some undercover. During quiet times, it’s a nice spot to sit in the calming environment.

The highlight of Patricia Giles Reserve is the tranquil and calm feeling the park provides due to the mature trees throughout the reserve. The large kickabout space is also fantastic, and a special mention to the disk swing!
