    The Park

The playground is located north of Wanda Surf Life Saving Club. As a result, many facilities are close to the playground, including an amenities building.

The playground includes a range of single pieces of play equipment, with outdoor fitness equipment and a basketball half court also in the reserve.

Brightly coloured blue and green wetpour rubber cover the embankment slide, which is a focal piece of the playground. The rubber forms and covers the entire mound, which is popular for kids to run up and down. The dual slides at the peak of the mound are perfect for racing, but beware – they do get hot in summer due to being made from stainless steel.

Other play equipment included in the park include a shaded basket swing, mini rock climbing wall with ropes, and giant sand pit with a water pump. The mix of equipment develops a range of different play skills, but the pieces are all separated and a bit disjointed.

An asphalt bike track runs around the reserve, which is part of a greater plan. Depending on how busy it is, this can be a great option to learn how to ride a bike, scooter, skateboard or rollerblades.

The park is elevated from Wanda Beach and can be largely exposed to direct sunlight. Shade sails offer some protection, covering the sand pit and basket swing area. There are also shaded picnic settings, but these are hotly contested!

The play space is not fenced but is set back from the bordering roads.

With the park setback and elevated from Wanda Beach, some of the ocean views you can take in from the playground are stunning. Furthermore, there’s a lot of variety in the park to cater to a number of abilities and age groups with the playground, basketball half court and outdoor exercise equipment.

The proposed upgrades to the park, set out in the Masterplan, look exciting and will only add to the experience.
