    The Park

The playground is located within the jam-packed Alexandria Park. The park includes dog off-leash areas (check with the City of Sydney for details), walking paths, sports ovals, sports courts (tennis and a multipurpose court), passive spaces, mature plantings, barbecues and public toilets.

The playground is split into two different fully fenced zones – one with equipment aimed at babies, toddlers and pre-school children (0-5 years); and the other catering to older kids. Despite having two zones, the play equipment is similar. The two fenced zones could also create additional work for parents and carers to supervise if they need to look after children of varying ages.

The equipment in the playground is older, but helps develop a child’s ability through physical play (climbing, rocking, balancing, sliding, swinging, hanging), and social play.

The playground is well-shaded with mature trees that provide sound protection from adjoining roads. A shade sail covers the older kids’ play space too.

Alexandria Park playground serves the neighbourhood region and is situated well in the greater park. It is important to note that the City of Sydney had community consolation up for a playground upgrade at the time of visit (who have been rolling out fantastic playgrounds recently!).

If you’re looking for a playground in the Alexandria area that caters more to older kids, Wulaba Park is an adventure playground only a suburb over, in Waterloo.

Alexandria Park is a social reserve that attracts a range of different users with of all the features and facilities it provides. The park is largely dog off-leash, and has a range of sports facilities available, including tennis courts, basketball and netball courts.

The playground complements the many uses of the park and gives younger children a spot to play. We can’t wait to see the new play space after the City of Sydney’s proposed upgrade!
